Steinway was built in the fall of 1929. This 26 ft Dolphin Jr. is powered by a 220hp 6-cylinder 678 cu. in. Kermath Sea Wolf that is capable of speeds up to 45mph. The engine was meticulously rebuilt and restored by John Allen.
ALAN FURTH COLLECTION
Her prior owners Brad and Sandy Hill purchased the boat from an avid collector Alan Furth. Alan, we believe acquired the boat from Bill Morgan in the late 60’s.
Almost every plant on Steinway’s topsides is original Honduran Mahogany. While her deck had to be completely redone with new wood, restorer Jim Senior did a spectacular job selecting the right grain and quality of Honduran Mahogany that Hacker insisted in building with his boats.
Steinway’s upholstery was the invention of Rod Souza. Rod along with the current owner did extensive research and had the hides specially made to match the color, texture and graining for a 1929 Hacker Craft. All the seat backs, bolsters, and other areas of boat were original pieces from 1929. They were all stamped with #296, Steinway’s hull number. Longtime friend, Chuck Kelly, professionally restored her instrument panel to original perfection.
At the prestigious Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance in 2002, Steinway received the following awards:
1st in Class,
Best Professional Restoration (Awarded in Jim Senior)
Best triple Cockpit over 23ft
Best Hacker Craft of Show
Best Marque Class of Show
Best of Show
Best Engine of Show (2006)
