THE HISTORY

Knock on Wood is fifth of its model made by Chris-Craft in 1959, which was the first year that they used the Chris-Craft (Chevrolet) small block engine. It was first sold in December 1958 in San Jose, California, and after being used as a family boat on various lakes throughout California, it was regulated to fishing duty on San Francisco Bay.

THE RESTORATION

The previous owners, Rich Fisher and Nancy Bartolomei, spent an excess of 2450 hours in an 18-month period doing a complete full restoration in the years of 2008 and 2009. During the restoration, new wood replaced the old in small amounts of the framing and deck, and was fully replaced along the bottom and the transom. All other wood and hardware on the boat are original.

HIGHLY AWARDED

In 2009, Rich and Nancy’s hard work and passion graced Knock on Wood with the first place trophy in class and a trophy for the Best Blonde Deck Boat at the South Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic. In the same year at the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance, the boat was awarded another first place in its class and also received a trophy for the for the Best Non-Professional Restoration. In the years 2010 and 2012, Knock on Wood brought home first place trophies within its class from the South Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic. The torch was then passed down with new ownership of Knock on Wood to Conner and Miles Kashyap. Keeping it in the family with Rich and Nancy, in 2015 Knock on Wood was awarded the honorable trophy of Best Chris-Craft of Show while receiving another first place in class at the South Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic. In 2016 Knock on Wood won first place in class at the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance. In 2017, at the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance, the boat was shown for the marque class, and not only won another first place in class, but also won a highly prestigious award known as Best Chris-Craft of Show.

NOT JUST FOR SHOW

During the summer Knock on Wood has fun adventuring the blue waters of Lake Tahoe with its owners Conner and Miles, along with many friends and family including the past owners Rich and Nancy. Although Knock on Wood is one of the smaller boats on Tahoe, it definitely knows how to have the most fun!
